BIOgraphy

Jacqueline King is currently based in Portland, Maine. She received her BFA in Sculpture from the Maine College of Art in 2017. Choosing to work in a variety of mediums, King creates a dialogue with the viewer through an agitating use of material and symbolic forms. Dividing her works into didactic media, sardonic products, and metaphorical objects, King’s work is aimed to provoke and unnerve viewers in an effort to inspire social change and reflection.

Her work investigates the body in relation to power and violence. King uses poignant metaphors and carefully constructed satire to analyze and critique the cultural roles of gender, sexuality, and hierarchy.
